Paintworks

Van de Brake's 'paintworks' tell the story of his life.
He does not call them paintings, because “a painting is something with a neat frame around it that hangs in a museum”. A paintwork is much more direct and raw.
His paintworks show his experience, emotions, fears and dreams. A story that never ends, as long as he lives.

He already made hundreds of paintworks and still continues to do so. Not only adds new work, he also regularly changes an old paintwork or paints it over again. And the ravages of time leave their mark. This decay he considers also part of life, because it all is development.
